The main strategies are usually proven right when they reject most rated races or stay out altogether. It is always a tough day at the office in that scenario.
Given that Saturday was deemed such a dangerous betting day it was satisfying to see so many Elite Top-Rated tips win around the country.

Most of these winning top-raters were not part of a main win strategy. For selections considered flawed by the main algorithms, the strike rates and average odds are awesome.
Just like John West, it’s the ones we reject that make us the best.
Sydney Top-Rated v Syd Combo 2022-23 Season.
It is interesting to look at the Sydney Top-Rated selections for this season so far. Remember the early months of this current season saw unprecedented rainfall. With the bog racetracks and training tracks, trainers could not get their horses fit and Sydney racing was a raffle for several months.
The bottom line for a level bet on EVERY top-rater for the season is showing a 2.3% loss.
No surprise that the top-rated strike rate was well below our usual percentages but the excellent profit at Randwick demonstrates that value is more important than strike-rate.
The non-city top-raters are doing well and will be looked at with the view to contributing more to the Combo Strategy.

Considering the slightly negative overall top-rated bottom line, these Sydney Combo (AS Listed) stats are sensational!
The Combo algorithm is working. To pick and choose which top-raters get the Combo nod so astutely, especially at Rosehill, gives great confidence going forward.
A 35% bank increase in such a season is enormous.

Quaddies and Multi Betting with Elite and Nationwide Ratings
It was great to see five successful multis (F4, Tri, Exacta) in Sydney on Saturday from seven rated races on what was a quiet day for the main win bet strategies.
The F4’s paid: $3,489, $2,360, $5,810, $684 and $987.
Although we firmly believe F4, Trifectas and Exactas are more reliable and more profitable than quaddies, we do receive queries regarding the quaddies.
Hi Nik,
Most members who bet the quaddies couple-up the top-5 rated (from the ratings sheets) in each quaddie leg and take a percentage (flexi-bet) to suit their bank.
Here’s an example; Perth last Wednesday where we got the $26k quaddie.
You could go much tighter like this example at Morphettville on Saturday where we got the quaddie in ONE.
That is the equivalent of picking a $211 winner but it is rare to get all four on top.
A more run of the mill quaddie get was this $4.8k example from Perth the previous Saturday.
By the way, the first-4 in Ex Sport Man’s race paid $10,957 and we had the first three home in the top-3 rated (Tri paid $760) with fourth place being a $9.50 shot.
And just to get the WA quaddies right up to date, here is Saturday’s list.
Three on-top picks and one second-rated.
